I’m very honored to say that the Dragons Within: Guarding Her Own cover art has received first place in the Spring 2022 BookFest Awards for Artistic & Technical Book Cover Illustration!
This same title was ranked a #1 Amazon Bestseller, and won the Silver/2nd Place award in the 2022 Feathered Quill Book Awards Program for the Short Story/Anthology category.
It’s truly an honor to see my work getting this kind of recognition.
This cover is actually the second of three cover art designs I’ve created for the Dragons Within series. (You can see all three in my portfolio here).
It’s funny how art can capture a moment in time. When I was creating this, I was renting this beautiful house out in Richmond, Vermont. From the hill above the house, I could see for miles into the valleys around the mountain.
After drinking my coffee, looking out over the mountains, I would go back inside and work on this cover.
Truthfully, it was just another job at the time. But it held that unique space of being a job that I was passionate about.
I’ve had the good fortune to have worked with the publisher Balance of Seven for a number of their novels and anthologies. I’ve even created concept art for many of the authors.
I’m just grateful to have the opportunity to work with such a fantastic team.
